Volunteers are essential!
Organisations like ours could not go on without them.
There are people who volunteer to run the web-site or look after our huge database and design the programs, and others who spend time photographing the local cemetery headstones and making them into Cds.
Volunteers have entered over 700,000 names onto our computer database from a range of records. We have just completed the entries for Bendigo Hospital Admissions up to 1935, but many more records are waiting to be done.
Volunteers transcribe from original registers and the sheets are then passed on to be typed into a computer program. We even loan out computers already loaded with the necessary program, if need be.

At present there are volunteers busy typing in Funeral Parlour records, local school registers, church baptisms and marriages, hospital outpatients and Bendigo rate books.
Volunteers are also needed to assist at the Bendigo Library when our group are on duty Wednesday afternoon and Saturday mornings to assist researchers with their family history queries.
Like all similar societies we are always needing more volunteers, even for the day to day running of the group.
